Privacy policy

1.The short version

The app collects nothing about you and sends nothing about you anywhere.

Your recitation is processed on your own device and is never uploaded.

Your notes, bookmarks, sittings and recordings live only on your device.

There is no account, no sign-in and no sync.

There is no analytics, telemetry, advertising or tracking SDK in the app.

This website, unlike the app, uses Google Analytics to count visits.

The contact form on this website is the only place we ever receive your details, and we use them only to reply.

2.What the app collects

Nothing. There is no user account to create, no profile to fill in and no identifier assigned to you. The app does not build a record of what you read, when you read it, or how long for, anywhere except on your own device — and that record is yours, not ours.

There is no analytics or telemetry library of any kind in the app. We do not know how many people use it, which features they use, or whether it crashed. That is a deliberate trade: we lose the numbers, and you keep your reading to yourself.

3.What stays on your device

Everything you make in the app is stored in the app's own storage on your device, and nowhere else:

Your place

The page and verse you last had open, and your reading and memorisation bookmarks.

Your notes

Anything you write on a verse or on a single word of it.

Your sittings

The record of each recitation-checking session, its marks and its tally — and the audio recording of your own voice made during it.

Your khatmas

Their spans, daily portions and progress.

Your azkar

What you have kept, and the record of what you have read.

Your settings

Lighting, language, reciter, strictness, prayer calculation method and place.

4.Your recitation and the microphone

Checking your recitation and searching by voice both need the microphone, and the app asks for that permission the first time you use either. What it hears is processed by a speech recogniser that is installed with the app and runs on your device's own processor.

Nothing recorded or recognised is uploaded. This is not a promise about how we handle uploads — there is no upload path and no server to receive one. If you deny the microphone permission, everything else in the app continues to work.

The audio recording of a checking session is written to your device so you can play the sitting back later. It stays there until you delete that sitting.

5.When the app uses the network

The mushaf, its text, both printings of all 604 pages, the divisions, the study library, the azkar and the speech recogniser are installed with the app. Reading, searching, navigating, checking your recitation, prayer times, qibla and reviewing past sittings all work with the network switched off.

The network is used for one thing only: recitation audio you choose to download, and the single word played back in the review sheet. Those requests go to the Quran.com content network (api.qurancdn.com and audio.qurancdn.com) and carry no identifier of yours — only which audio file is wanted. If you never download a recitation, the app never makes a request.

6.Permissions the app asks for

Microphone

Only for recitation checking and voice search, and only while you are using them.

Location

Only to work out prayer times and the qibla direction on your device. Your coordinates are not sent anywhere; you can also choose a city from the offline list or type coordinates instead.

Notifications

Only to deliver the reminders and adhan alerts you set up yourself.

7.This website

This site uses Google Analytics to tell us how many people visit, which pages they read, and roughly where they came from. Google's tag sets its own first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_ followed by an id) to recognise a returning browser, and records the page, the referring site, the browser and device type, and an approximate location derived from the connection. Google processes that data under its own privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy); we see only aggregate reports. You can stop it by blocking cookies for this site or by installing Google's opt-out add-on (tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout).

The site sets no advertising cookies, and none of this applies to the app. Your theme and language choices are stored in your own browser's local storage; they never reach us.

Like any website, the server that delivers these pages processes the request itself — the address it came from, the page asked for and the browser's user-agent string — in order to serve the page and to limit abuse of the contact form. Addresses used for that rate limit are hashed and held only in memory, and are not written to a database or used to build a profile.

8.The contact form

When you write to us through the contact page, you give us your name, your email address, the kind of message it is, and the message itself. Subul receives that by email and uses it to reply to you. We send a copy to your own address at the same time so you have a record of what you sent.

We do not add you to a mailing list, we do not sell or share what you write, and we keep correspondence only as long as it is useful for handling the matter you raised. If you would like your message deleted, write to us and ask.

9.Children

The app is suitable for all ages and collects no data from anyone, so there is nothing for a child to disclose to it. The contact form asks for an email address, and we ask that children use it with a parent or guardian.

10.Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Because the app collects nothing, we do not expect changes of substance — but a new feature would be described here before it shipped.
